Take payments for tee times

To take card payments for tee times, your course needs its own Stripe account. You set it up once, from the Payments page in your SCORD portal, and it takes about ten minutes when you have the right details on the desk.

What the account is

Stripe is the company that moves the money. Your course gets its own Stripe account, in your course's name, and golfer payments land in your course's bank account.

SCORD never holds your money and takes no cut of a golfer booking. You can sign in to Stripe directly at any time, and you can disconnect the account from SCORD whenever you want.

Stripe accounts are set up for courses in the United States. If your course banks outside the United States, write to hello@scord.golf before you start.

What to have ready

  • Your business EIN, or your Social Security numberStripe asks for the EIN if the course is a company, a municipal department or a non-profit. If you run the course as a sole proprietor, it asks for your Social Security number instead.
  • Your bank routing and account numbersThis is the account the golfer payments land in. A voided check or a statement has both numbers on it.
  • A photo of your driver's license or passportStripe verifies the person opening the account. A clear photo from your phone is enough.
  • The course address and phone numberThese appear on the golfer's card statement, so they should be the ones a golfer would recognize.
  • About ten minutesYou can stop partway. Stripe saves what you entered and the portal gives you a Resume setup button.

How to start

  1. Sign in to your SCORD portal and open Golfer Payments.
  2. Read the Before you start list, then press Connect Stripe.
  3. Fill in Stripe's form. It asks about your business, the person opening the account, and where payouts should land.
  4. Stripe sends you back to the portal when you are done. The Payments page then shows Connected.

If Stripe says it needs more information

Stripe sometimes asks for a document after you finish, or checks a detail before it turns payouts on. When that happens your Payments page lists exactly what Stripe is waiting for, in plain words, with the date Stripe wants it by. Press Resume setup and Stripe takes you straight to the field it is missing.

Nothing on your tee sheet stops while you sort it out. Golfers can still book; they just cannot pay by card until the account is cleared.
